Conference Objectives
 

At the conclusion of the conference, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss the recent advances in the understanding of neonatal development, neonatal brain injury, necrotizing enterocolitis, postsurgical nutrition, gastroesophageal reflux, short gut, hypotension in the very low birth weight infant, hypoxic ischemic anemia, and extremely low birth weight infant outcomes.
  • Understand the current state of research involving stem cells, prenatal inflammation and postnatal consequences, ethics in the NICU, and extremely low birth weight infant outcomes.
  • Use the improved techniques for neonatal massage, feeding/nippling problems, continuous positive airway pressure, neonatal resuscitiation, post surgical nutrition, gastroesphageal reflux, steroids in the use for hypotension and chronic lung disease, brain cooling, medical therapy for patent ductus arteriosus and transfusions.
