Did you know that, in the United States, more people die by suicide (50% more!) each year than by homicide?

Experts believe that most suicidal individuals do not want to die. They just want to end the pain they are experiencing. When suicidal intent or risk is detected early, lives can be saved.

September 8 through September 12 is

National Suicide Prevention Week.

Please join the New Mexico Department of Health and the New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition in supporting suicide prevention. Together we can reduce the number of lives shaken by a needless and tragic death.

The New Mexico Department of Health, the Office of School and Adolescent Health and the New Mexico Suicide Prevention Coalition have joined together to offer school staff and administrators, community members, parents, guardians and anyone who is working with youth, a number of FREE opportunities to learn about risk factors for youth suicide, prevention efforts, and related resources.
