Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Institute?  The Institute is a day and a half training that provides valuable resources and tools for health educators in New Mexico.  You may read more about the Institute content on the Agenda and Session Description pages.

Where is the Institute held at?  The 2012 Institute will be held at the Marriott Pyramid in Albuquerque.  Please visit the Logistics page for driving directions.

When is the Institute?  The Institute is Tuesday, April 10 and Wednesday, April 11, 2012.

Who can attend the Institute?  Attendance preference is given to PED licensed teachers with an endorsement in health education or those identified to teach the health education requirement in their school.  Additionally, preferred space is given to public school teachers. 

How can I register?  Registration requests must be completed online; simply click the “Register Now!” button on the right of the screen to begin your registration request.  The Institute Management Office will process your registration and notify you of your status prior to the Institute.

Do I still have to sign up with a district team? No, individuals are required to register themselves directly online and are no longer expected to attend with a team from their school district.

Is there a registration fee? No, the Institute is provided at no cost by the New Mexico Public Education Department, School and Family Support Bureau.

Is lodging included with registration?  Lodging on Tuesday, April 10 is provided for those traveling more than 45 miles to the Institute.  If you believe your travel warrants a two night’s stay, you may indicate this on the registration form.  The Institute Management Office will reserve your room at the host hotel based on the information provided at registration.

Will I be able to get continuing education credit? Yes, New Mexico Highlands University will be on hand to provide continuing education credit.  For more information visit the Academic Credit page.

Can I get a copy of presentation materials? All attendees will receive an electronic copy of the resource materials but will no longer be provided with track binders.

 

What are pre-launch sessions? Pre-launch sessions are concentrated sessions occuring just before the Institute begins, on Tuesday, April 10 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm.

 

Are pre-launch sessions mandatory? No, you are not required to attend a pre-launch session as part of your Institute attendance. If you are interested in getting more in-depth information and resources about the topics being offered, then you are encouraged to attend.
