WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This two day training is intended for participants who are interested in learning the values and principles of the Wraparound Process. The Wraparound Process is used nationally for communities involved in system change who are striving for an organized way to provide individualized tailored care to youth and families who are involved in multiple systems.

Day 1 - Wraparound Basics

Learn the guiding principles, strategies, and the specific practice model of Wraparound.

Participants will:

  • Learn the essential principals and elements of the Wraparound Process
  • Gain an understanding of how the values and principles of the process look in action
  • Discover the importance of organizing local communities to support the needs of youth and their families
  • Learn the importance of utilizing a team process to create a single care plan for youth and families
  • Gain a better understanding of the importance of family inclusion in levels of system of care development

Day 2 - Wraparound in Depth

Learn and experience some of the specific practice approaches employed in the Wraparound model, including family team meetings, engaging natural supports, family-centered service planning, etc. 

Participants will:

  • Experience first-hand listening to family’s story
  • Learn how to do an effective strength’s assessment
  • Experience what a child’s family team is
  • Learn the difference between needs and deficits in the planning process
  • Participate in developing a family driven plan of care
