This is the next in the annual series of conferences sponsored by NMDHSEM dealing with homeland security issues facing the New Mexico law enforcement community. The target audience for these conferences is state and local law enforcement, and attendance is restricted to law enforcement officers, government officials and select contractors involved in direct support to government on homeland security issues.
The focus of this year’s conference is border security, and invited speakers are expected to address relevant topics, to include the following:
- The overall security environment along the southern border, specifically in New Mexico
- Structure and activities of Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs)
- DTO connections with U.S. gangs
- Border “spillover violence”: the Arizona experience
- The Government of Mexico’s view of border security
- Dealing with potential radiological/nuclear threats crossing the border
- Potential cross-border pandemic threats
A special luncheon presentation featuring New Mexico State University Professor Emeritus Louis Ray Sadler. Professor Sadler is a renowned expert and author specializing in the field of border intelligence operations after the Mexican Revolution.
