Programming Information
Using Student Learning Preferences to Support Effective Tutoring
During this workshop, we will explore the learning modes in which students like to receive information including auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning. It is important for tutors to understand their preferred learning modes because tutors tend to rely on their preferences when tutoring. During an effective tutoring session, the student will benefit from working in his/her preferred learning mode.
We will also examine (and experience) left-brain and right-brain learning. The traditional classroom supports left-brain learning and many right-brain learners find learning difficult in that environment. We will take an in-depth look at right-brain learning because it’s likely that many students needing tutoring prefer right-brain learning.
