New PreK Teaching Staff

Teachers and Educational Assistants new to the NM PreK Program (hired after January 2011) are required to attend the NM PreK Trainings for New Teaching Staff.  The trainings will provide an introduction to the PreK Observational Assessment Tools and give tips for organizing for authentic observation and preparing portfolios for families.  Staff are required to attend one two-day training in the fall and one single day training in the spring.

NM PreK Trainings for New Teaching Staff are offered on the following dates and locations:

 

FALL

August 25 & 26, 2011: Las Cruces

August 29 & 30, 2011: Albuquerque

September 6 & 7, 2011: Albuquerque

September 12 & 13, 2011: Albuquerque

September 12 & 13, 2011: Las Cruces

 

SPRING

February 2, 2012: Albuquerque

February 3, 2012: Albuquerque

February 7, 2012: Las Cruces

February 8, 2012: Las Cruces

 

One night's shared lodging will be offered for eligible programs (please click here to check your program's eligibility).  You must request lodging during the online registration process.  Please refer to the Travel Policy for more information.

New teaching staff are also encouraged to attend an ECERS-R Training, however, it is not required. The Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale - Revised was created to help determine appropriate classroom environments.
